ESG opportunities for HR: spotlight on sustainability and well-being

Written by Move to Happiness | Jul 30, 2024 7:55:38 AM

Since the beginning of 2024, more and more companies have been required to report on the impact of their activities on people and the environment, due to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, or CSRD. This European directive first came into effect in 2023 and was further expanded this year. The CSRD requires large companies to report on CO2 emissions, social capital, and the impact on biodiversity and human rights in their supply chains.

As the CSRD continues to expand, it is important for all companies to become familiar with it. For HR professionals, the CSRD presents challenges but also new opportunities. More budget will be allocated to support soft HR initiatives. But how do you translate the board's ESG objectives into concrete social actions for your employees? How do you evolve from intuition to data-driven decisions? Move To Happiness helps you on your way with the Social pillar.

The Social pillar: people sustainability

The Social pillar is perhaps the one where you as an HR department can exert the most influence. This pillar includes:

  • Workforce health, well-being, and safety

  • Human capital development

  • Diversity & inclusion

  • Equal pay & opportunity

  • Employee engagement and retention

  • Talent attraction and training

  • Respect for privacy and data security

The mandatory reporting gives HR the opportunity to focus more on these areas and secure more budget for implementation and relevant data capture.

Plan of action

Move To Happiness helps organizations to bring the social pillar of ESG to life and measure its impact. On our central platform, we combine education (SDG campaigns with videos, questionnaires, and PDFs), communication, and interactive engagement tools. We already do this for clients such as Accenture, Nippon Gases, VGD, AZ-Zeno, and DEME Group.

Curious about how we do this in practice? Download our whitepaper ‘How to Boost Employee Engagement’. In it, we share three concrete campaigns.

Does our approach work? Our clients see higher participation rates, greater satisfaction, and enhanced engagement among their employees.

Greater involvement leads to more data, allowing you to better evaluate and report the impact of your social actions and their return on investment. This way, you can tailor your initiatives to your needs, evolving from descriptive data (what happened?) to prescriptive data (how can we make it happen?).
