How VGD Links Well-Being to Measurable Human Performance
VGD Accountants
From community engagement to strategic human performance
Context
VGD Accountants is a fast-growing accounting and consulting organization with multiple offices in Belgium. Like many professional services firms, they are experiencing increasing pressure on focus, energy and collaboration.
Wellness was not an unknown theme. The question was: how do we make it more relevant, more personal and more measurable?
The challenge
VGD wanted more than separate initiatives. They were looking for a way to:
- involve employees more actively in well-being,
- make digital guidance accessible to everyone,
- while gaining insight into engagement across offices.
The ambition was clear: well-being was not to be an HR activity, but a shared responsibility.
The approach
1. Start with Community & Engagement
The first focus was on the community platform and campaigns.
Based on current usage data, we see:
- 470 total activated users
- 427 active users
- 91% activation rate
- 4.66 programs viewed per user on average
- 13.64 unique visit days on average
Community activities, challenges and campaigns such as walking challenges and thematic programs created strong engagement.
Instead of a one-time workshop, a continuous rhythm of interaction emerged. This is a significant difference.
2. Rollout of the AI Buddies
Following the engagement base, personal AI coaching was implemented at scale.
Within 8 weeks, we saw clear adoption of these AI buddies.
Real-world examples:
- Snoozzz (sleep & recovery).
Employees use Snoozzz to optimize their sleep patterns, focusing on recovery during busy periods. The approach combines behavior modification with data insights. - Bite Buddy (nutrition & energy).
Used around energy management during peak periods (VAT deadlines, year-end closings). Small behavioral adjustments, no dietary thinking. - Mind Master (mental focus & resilience).
Used for stress regulation and cognitive acuity under pressure, based on scientific frameworks such as JD-R and ACT. - Wellness Wally (personal growth).
Functions as an approachable first point of contact for reflection, motivation and micro-actions.
What stands out: employees use the buddies not as a "chatbot," but as a personal sparring partner.
Results to date
Based on current data, we see especially strong community engagement:
- High activation rate (91%)
- Consistent monthly interaction
- Recurring use of campaigns and challenges
The move to AI Buddies shows that personal coaching is feasible at scale, without additional pressure on HR or executives.
What is not yet claimed:
- No firm statements on burnout reduction
- No direct EBITDA impact
That would be premature.
The next step: from well-being to Human Performance
VGD today is looking at how to strategically deploy the Human Performance Dashboard.
The goal is not to monitor individuals, but to reveal patterns at the organizational level:
- Where is structural energy friction?
- Which periods experience increased pressure?
- How does engagement evolve by office or team?
This aligns with the broader vision of Move To Happiness: linking well-being to measurable human performance, not as an HR theme, but as a strategic lever.
From intention to system.
From single actions to structural steering.
